Hertford and District Camera Club
noticeboard
June 2024: It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of the club at the end of our 2023-2024 season. Falling membership and attendance – accelerated by the pandemic – mean that the club is no longer viable. We would like to thank all our members, as well as the many visiting speakers and judges, who have supported the club over the last 73 years. |
16 September 2022: Our 2022-2023 season starts today. This year all our talks and competitions will be held onlne using Zoom, at 8:00pm on alternate Fridays, with a few additional in-person practical and social meetings. Up-to-date details are shown on the programme page. Online visitors are very welcome, with the Zoom login details available using the Visitor buttons on the programme. |
14 March 2022: We're pleased to announce that the postponed 3-way Match-a-DPI competition has been rescheduled to take place on 6 May. This has meant moving the all-important AGM to 27 May. The Annual Dinner originally planned for that date will take place a little later on a date to be finalised. |
18 February 2022: COMPETITION CANCELLED or postponed. Sadly due to the travel disruption and safety issues caused by storm Eunice it has been necessary to cancel tonight’s 3-way Match-a-DPI competition. We hope to be able to arrange another date. |
7 February 2022: While we continue to meet mainly online, our 3-way “match-a-DPI” competition against our friends from Hoddesdon and Ware on 18 February will be held in the hall. This is the modern follow-up to the traditional “match-a-slide” comp in which an image from one club must be matched in some dubious way by the others. The judge provides further entertainment. We had hoped to be back in the hall for Robert Snarey’s “Japan at Cherry Blossom Time” two weeks later but this meeting will now be online. |
4 January 2022: In light of the increase in the number of Covid cases, and the unpleasantness of needing to wear masks at hall meetings, the committee has decided to suspend meeting in the hall and move online until further notice. The syllabus page here on the website will be kept updated. |
10 August 2021: Our 2021-2022 season starts on 10 September, and the Syllabus is now online. This year, with an innovative hybrid programme, we will be meeting both in our hall and online, on alternate weeks. With half the meetings online we can welcome members and visitors from outside our local area, and we have introduced a formal Online Member category for those wishing to attend all the online meetings with the opportunity to enter our Digital Image competitions. |
